Friends

Well its pretty crazy that I'm still up at 3:26 am on a wednesday morning. I was just on myspace looking up some friends that I need to add, and I was reminded of all the good times I have had with so many people and the influence they have had on my life. I don't know where to start saying thank you and I don't dare start to mention names because I don't want to leave anyone out. I got to know some amazing people up in Logan. Some of the best friends a guy could ever have. I don't know if anyone even reads this anymore but if your one of those friends thanks for everything you have done. Your great and I appreciate ya.

The Unexpected Events of Life

Life seems to have a way of always keeping us off balance and on our toes. I have written about having life figured out and then having everything falling apart and then we know nothing. That happens to a lot of people and sometimes it can be enough to make someone want to quit trying and just give in and give up.
Its easy to ask why me when these things happen. I do it all the time even though I try so hard not to. I don't think wondering why helps anything it just makes it worse. When we focus on why things happen, we feel bad about our situation and loose sight of all the good things that are around us and the blessing we have. We don't take time to appreciate the things that we appreciate about the situation that we were in and only want to go back to where we were. I know that's something that happens in my life. Change isn't accepted well by most of us and it causes stress and worry in our lives. I won't go so far as to say there aren't some why questions that we can ask that will be beneficial. But I do belief that asking "Why Me?" isn't one of them.
Life can be cruel and heartless at times. Its hard to accept that most of the time when other people are involved, freedom of choice can be a very hard thing to deal with and accept. Sometimes it doesn't matter how you feel or what you want, people make choices that affect us and it hurts sometimes. Sometimes it hurts worse than you could have ever imagined or have ever been hurt before. I have pondered on why this is part of life and haven't really come up with any good answers and I don't know if I will ever know the answer. One thing I believe is that things happen for a reason in life. That belief doesn't make it any easier to deal with some of life's monkey wrenches but it does make it easier to look at what happened more objectively. It makes it a little easier to ask the question " What do I need to learn from this?" or the question "How can this situation make me a better person?"
I probably am the last person who should be writing this right now. Im just spewing thoughts that have been on my mind on to the computer screen and in a lot of ways I need to just follow my own post and do these things in my own life. Life can be so hard at times and it can seem like no one cares or is there for us. I know that this isn't true, there is always someone who has our back and will be there for us no matter what. We sometimes loose the people that get us through the days and seem to make life worth while. But no matter what happens life goes on and if we sit around and only think about what we had we will miss out on so much. Don't get me wrong I don't think that it is easy to just get on with life. That might me one of the hardest things for us to believe and really do. It takes time to heal and then we can move on with life. And I don't know that you can really put a time limit on how long it will take to heal and be able to move on. All I can say is thank goodness for family and good friends and also for the good lord and his help.

Husband Store

A store that sells husbands has just opened in Dallas, TX, where woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates."You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch. You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!"

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband . . .

On the first floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men have jobs.

The second floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids.

The third floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads: Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework. "Oh,mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads: Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads: Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping here

Some pretty Good Quotes

I was just browsing the internet at work during a down moment. I wanted to find the quote that is attributed to Nelson Mandela that was said on the movie "Coach Carter" by Timo Cruz. But instead I found some other really good quotes that I'm going to post. I will comment on them later when I get a few more minutes.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
Nelson Mandela
If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.
Nelson Mandela
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
Nelson Mandela
There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.
Nelson Mandela
We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.

Lets just let the poor guys be!

Well, I've had a lot of time to think about a few things since watching the Super Bowl last Sunday. I was hoping to see the Seatle Seahawks win the game, only because they were the underdog and have never won a superbowl before. My team is the Denver Broncos so I honestly didn't care who won the game. As I watched the game I saw several things that upset me. I didn't agree with some of the calls the officals made and unfortunately some of those calls did seem to change the flow of the game. After the game I steamed about why the referee squad was so terrible and like many other people in America felt like the Seahawks got the short end of the stick. This caused me to think back to several other games I have watched in the past year. The Troy Polomalu interception that was interperted as a incomplete pass, the whole situation with A.J. Pierzynski and the Angels in the ALCS, and many countless other times a bad call or something that I didn't agree with has happened.
I have had the opportunity to be a umpire for a little leauge baseball game and have been a referee in many basketball games. I would have to say that it isn't the most fun that I have ever had. I think I would even go so far to say that it sucked real bad, and that was only little leauge and church ball. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have the pressure that college and professional officals face on a regular basis. You know no matter what you saw or what happened your wrong. If its not the player, its the coach, and if not either of them then it is the assanine fans who some how know everything there is to know about sports because they watch it on tv or in real life sometimes. I think that we all need to stop focusing so much on the officals and get back to whats important the Game. Of corse there is the occasional idot offical like the crew who officated the Duke vs Florida State basketball game. If you read up on that you will see that some officals are just idiots and definately win games for some teams. But overall I think that the officals do a decent job.
Its a fact of life that superstars are going to get some calls that the normal joe shmoe would never get. There isn't anything that we can do about that and there never will be. I think the sooner we get back to the game and stop focusing on the officals the better off we will be. But to do that teams, coaches and fans are going to have to own up to a lot of stuff. Its true the officals did make some bad calls in the Super Bowl but that wasn't the reason that Jeremy Stevens dropped several passes that would have made a huge difference or the reason that Seattle missed 2 field goals as well. The referee botched the call on the Polomalu interception but had the Steelers lost the game it would have been because of their defense not being able to stop the Colts last drive or even because of the Jerome Bettis fumble near the end of the game. The umpire clearly made a bad call in the ALCS but even the Angels coach said that they couldn't blame the umpire for them loosing the series.
Unfortunately I don't see players, coaches or fans owning up to much of anything in the near future. Joey Porter and his idiot comment about the refs wanting the Colts to win their game is evidence of that. So I do think that the umpires and referees will be under continued scrutiny and pressure, to do something that is unhumanly possible except for one man, and that is be perfect. But in the mean time it sure would be nice to be able to watch a game and just watch a game.

How polically stupid are you?

John McCain
Congratulations, you scored 32 politically stupid.

Well, you're certainly not red, but you're not all blue either. Maybe like a tomato with a little bit of blue mold on it. Read more Ann Coulter and Larry Elder, and be sure to take plenty of vitamin B12.
